How to use TrayScapes

Fiberboard Trays Tips

Like many natural materials, our 100% recycled fiberboard trays and bowls are absorbent. To prevent staining, we suggest lining the trays or bowls with cello, parchment, or wax paper. These materials can be customized with your logos.

The plastic liners for the fiberboard bowls are used with wet salads to prevent leakage and staining. We suggest using cello, wax paper, and parchment when putting oily elements like popcorn, snacks, or breads in the bowls.

Notes: Plastic inserts and covers may be used with any platters that you’re currently using.

BDP Plastic Dividers Tips

You may use the smallest containers (approximately 4 oz. capacity) for direct use by the guests.

For example, if you design a yogurt parfait breakfast tray, you can fill the smallest containers with yogurt and larger containers with fruits and condiments. Granola, assorted berries, toasted coconut, nuts, and sliced fruits are a sampling of what can be provided as ‘add-ins’.

The same can be done with dessert platters that feature puddings or anything else that can be placed in individual containers. Clients love the small-size containers that reduce waste and encourage sampling.

How to design with TrayScapes

  1. Decide on the theme and size/number of guests of the tray or platter.

  2. Select the ingredients to be included and decide on the quantities of each.

  3. Select the platter size and containers that will be used for each component.

  4. Fill and cover each container.

  5. Arrange the containers in the most attractive way.

  6. Wrap with saran wrap and/or shrink film.

  7. Label the platter and prepare for shipping.

Notes: Trays do not have to be filled with containers. You may use open space for food as long as you have created a barrier between the tray and the food. We suggest parchment or cello sheets, which can be printed with your company logo in a step-and-repeat pattern.

How to wrap TrayScapes

Simply wrap in multiple layers of 18” film to secure the containers. This is the simplest solution. This wrap can be removed with scissors when it needs to be unwrapped.

Using a shrink film, wrap the platter and shrink the film to secure the containers. This takes a little more time but makes for a more attractive presentation when the food arrives. Depending on the weight of the components, trays may be stacked 2-3 high.

If the components are very light, they may be stacked even higher. Wrapped trays may be refrigerated before shipping. As long as the fiberboard trays and bowls are not absorbing any liquids, they will hold up for a day or two in refrigeration with no adverse impact.
